Quizás la efectividad del cuerpo de lanzadores esté distante de un buen rendimiento. Pero se han apertrechado tras la intensa ofensiva de los Rangers para lograr las victorias en este comienzo de campaña.

Nelson Cruz sonó cuadrangular en el décimo inning para ponerle números definitivos al marcador. Holland realizó una apertura aceptable al lanzar 5.2 innings, 3 carreras limpias, 5 hits. Andrus realizó varias jugadas defensivas al final del juego, incluidos 2 dobleplays. Francisco se acreditó su décimo salvado, sólo aceptó 1 hit y ponchó 2 en el cierre del décimo.

At first, I thought that the Texas Rangers’ chance of finishing among the leaders of the American League West Division, depended upon the performance of some of its shining prospects. Elvis Andrus is having an acceptable season for a rookie. Derek Holland was raised to MLB and has 1-2 and 5.70 ERA in 23.2 innings.

But at least in the first month of season, the experienced pitchers have showed that they can battle against the American League sluggers. Kevin Milwood is 4-4 with an ERA of 3.25, Matt Harrison 4-4 and 5.43. Vicente Padilla 3-2 and 4.71. Brandon McCarthy 4-2 and 4.67. Scott Feldman 3-0 and 4.04. Frank Francisco 1-0, 10 saves, 0.00. Jason Jennings 2-1 and 3.98. C.J. Wilson 2-2, 2 saves and 3.38.

Maybe the pitching staff ERA is far from an acceptable performance. But the Rangers offensive department have provided runs enough to get the wins at this starting of the season.

Andrus is confirming that he can play in MLB. The season is just beginning but he’s making all the adjustments to establish in the field and with the bat.

An example of how the Rangers amaze with their prospects supported by the experienced players hapenned on Friday, May 22nd, 2009. That day, they defeated 6-5 the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. Nelson Cruz smacked a dinger in the tenth inning to give the Rangers the win. Holland worked for 5.2 innings, 3 earned runs, 5 hits. Andrus made several defensive plays at the end of the game including 2 doubleplays. Francisco got his tenth save of the season. He only accepted 1 hit, and struckout 2.
