November 2, 2011 by · 1 Comment

English Translation

Commenting on the announcement of the retirement of Richard Hidalgo great player, it is important to comment on his career in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball and Major League.

The first thing we say is that this player may be one of the most potential and conditions in history Venezuelan baseball. It is not rash to say this. Hidalgo since signing the professional attributes that showed incredible for the game. His power bat showed it to just lean over peloteril firmament, powerful in the gardens and a “Bazooka” and arm. Richard was an amazing prospect.

It makes its debut with the “Magellan” in the 91-92 season where he only played one game on the defensive. In the 92-93 participating in 18 games and hit his first homer in Venezuela. is from 94-95 how do you begin to “weave” a great story with the traditional team based in Valencia, the Magallanes Navigators.

At that time begins to be compared with other gardeners who also began their careers as Bob Abreu and Maglio Ordonez, but it was Richard who came out ahead in the comparisons that were baseball fans in chat rooms.

Houston Astros gives you the opportunity to climb to the majors in 1997 participating in 19 games. 300 bird hits in those two first season in Houston. Considered the great prospect of the organization give the title at 99.2000, is where Richard exploits its full potential and shoot 44 homers and 122 runs to push the rubber, these figures being top in her career.

After the great season we can say that Hidalgo was “deflated”, but was never the same player, or baseball or in Venezuela. Does it cause? For me it will always be a mystery. the mystery of how a player with such great potential, putting some spectacular numbers in a season, then not even a shadow of himself. Incomprehensible things in baseball.

Hidalgo participated in 9 seasons the best baseball of the world. 3 good seasons and the other mediocre. Their total numbers were: 171 homers, 560 RBIs and an average of 269, 929 hits for life in the big show.

Hidalgo’s career in the National Baseball was much more compact and productive. 16 seasons in our baseball, all with the T one of the sets of more history of our hobby. His 56 homers are a record for the franchise.average life of a little more than 280. His top season in home runs in Venezuela where he was the 2007-08 13 homers.

In particular I will never understand what happened to Richard Hidalgo. A player with the 5 tools to succeed in baseball, very many betting scout stardom, fans hoping to enjoy quality, but, NO. Richard could not live up to what we expected. Well, download, we can say that in his later years suffered his knee injury that kept him busy.

Richard José Hidalgo was born in Caracas on June 28, 1975. Announced his retirement from baseball an October 30, 2011 in a game against his most bitter enemy (Caracas Lions) in the Jose Bernardo Perez stadium in Valencia, Venezuela.
