Thursday 11/1/2025: Arizona's Buzhardt named Walter Johnson Award The American League Walter Johnson Award winner was announced today, with Seattle's right-hander Roy Oswalt taking home the desired trophy. He certainly earned it, he struck fear into hitters all year long. Opposing players hit .209 against Roy this season. While posting an ERA of 2.10 he went 24-4 in 32 starts, fanning 202 and walking 20 hitters. He has 10 complete games and 2 shutouts. He's 2nd in the American League in ERA and 2nd in wins! Arizona's right-hander John Buzhardt was untouchable all year long. His work paid off today as the National League named him the Walter Johnson Award winner! This season Buzhardt compiled an ERA of 2.07, going 25-5 in 40 starts. He fanned 91 while giving up 180 hits in 291.1 innings. John has pitched 3 shutouts and 8 complete games. He's 2nd in the National League in ERA and 1st in wins! |
Thursday 11/1/2025: Most Valuable Player Award winners announced Detroit's first baseman Mike Jacobs had a fabulous season, no doubt about it. The American League shared this opinion and names the 35 year old the Most Valuable Player Award winner! While compiling an on base percentage of .391, Mike hit .317 and slugged .564. He has collected 117 runs batted in this year. He's 1st in the American League in RBIs and 1st in homeruns! Jacobs wins the award for the 4th time in his 10-year career. Montreal's shortstop Travis Fryman had a fabulous season as well, no doubt about it. The National League shared this opinion and names the 36 year old the Most Valuable Player Award winner! Fryman has hit 10 bombs this year while batting .361. He adds 34 doubles, along with 88 runs scored. He's 1st in the National League in batting and 6th in RBI! Fryman wins the award for the 2nd time in his 15-year career. |
Thursday 11/1/2025: Jackie Robinson Award winners announced Bobby Madritsch was named the American League Jackie Robinson Award winner today. New York (A)'s pitcher put up pretty good numbers for a rookie this year. This 29 year old kid will probably have a long and successful career! This season Madritsch compiled an ERA of 3.18, going 19-7 in 32 starts. He fanned 96 while giving up 222 hits in 226.2 innings. He has 4 complete games and 2 shutouts. He's 5th in the American League in wins! Pittsburgh's Ryan Howard as well was almost in tears when he heard the news. The 26 year old first baseman was named the Jackie Robinson Award winner in the National League today. What a way to begin a career! His season features a batting average of .285 (171 hits in 599 AB), 43 doubles, 5 triples and 17 homeruns. Howard collected 89 RBI and 76 runs as well. |
Friday 10/12/2025: Texas' Dauss out for 5 weeks TEXAS - Texas is without its right-hander Hooks Dauss for at least 5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Luke Scott in a game against Seattle. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Ruptured Tricep Tendon was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. This season Dauss compiled an ERA of 2.29, going 25-6 in 41 starts. He fanned 115 while giving up 243 hits in 302.2 innings. He has 7 complete games and 2 shutouts. He's 5th in the American League in ERA and 1st in wins! |
Monday 10/8/2025: Hank Gornicki blanks Arizona with a 2-hitter ARIZONA - Pittsburgh's right-hander Hank Gornicki will never forget this day. The 33-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against Arizona on Monday. 'They took some ugly cuts at my breaking stuff, so I kept throwing it. Fortunately they were not able to adjust in time.' Gornicki (12-9) fanned 6 and walked 3, throwing 97 pitches. Ryan Howard provided Pittsburgh with the offense Gornicki needed as he finished with 1 hit in 4 AB, blasting a homerun. The final score of the game was 2-0. |
