Mike Lowell and Jason Varitek hit consecutive doubles to put the score 5-2.<\/p>\n The Red Sox, who played without Kevin Youkilis (1b) because of sore back, nor Julio Lugo (ss) stiff knee, got back to keep fighting for the game in the eighth inning before the reliever Rafael Betancourt. After 1 out, Lowell and Varitek hit singles. Jeff Bailey batted a grounder to third base that Mark DeRosa couldn`t handle and therefore the bases were loaded. Jonathan Every hit a single to right field to set the score 5-3. Jensen Lewis came to face pinch hitter J.D. Drew who batted in Varitek\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s run on a fielder choice grounder to the infield.
