Two-time American League All-Star shortstop and long-time member of the Boston Red Sox, Rico Petrocelli, will appear on Tuesday night’s episode of “View From the Lone Red Seat”<\/a> to discuss Red Sox baseball and his career.  Petrocelli was named to the A.L. All-Star team in 1967 and 1969, a year in which he established a new single season record for home runs by an A.L. shortstop when he belted a career-high 40, eclipsing the previous record of 39 held by another Red Sox shortstop, Vern Stephens.  The record stood until 1998 when Alex Rodriguez hit 42.  Petrocelli appeared in two World Series with Boston, hitting two home runs and slugging .550 in the ’67 Fall Classic, and batting .308 with four RBIs in the 1975 Series.<\/p>\n

He retired in 1976 with 210 career home runs and a .970 fielding percentage.<\/p>\n
