En días recientes me encuentro con el buen amigo Arturo Sànchez en las instalaciones del club “Casa Falcón” en la vía hacia El Manzano, en Barquisimeto,Venezuela. Sirva la ocasión para recordar un poco de la carrera en el béisbol de este ilustre bateador Venezolano.<\/p>\n
Jesus Arturo Sànchez jugo durante 14 temporadas en nuestra pelota profesional, Cardenales de Lara, Leones del Caracas y en su ultimo año paso por las filas de los Caribes de Oriente. Se desempeño mayoritariamente en el outfield ,primera Base y Designado. “Arturito” como cariñosamente le llamaba la afición tubo su época de esplendor con los de Barquisimeto. Sus años con Los Cardenales la época 81-82,82-83,83-84,84-85 y 85-86 fueron unas temporadas tremendas que hicieron de Arturo un ídolo en esa región del occidente del país.<\/p>\n
Arturo fue considerado en su época de esplendor uno de los mas grandes chocadores de bola de nuestro béisbol. En la temporada 83-84 bateo para 331 de ave. conectando 52 hit y empujando 18 carreras al plato. En la temporada siguiente su promedio se remonta a 326 y 2 temporadas antes batea un solido 356 ave. siempre entre los mejores bateadores del torneo.<\/p>\n
Recientemente se cumplieron 27 años de una hazaña en donde estuvo involucrado Arturo Sànchez. El 6 de Noviembre de 1984 en el estadium Universitario de Caracas, El y William Erèu,otro insigne pelotero criollo batearon 5 hits cada uno, sumando 10 hits entre los dos, igualando a el Cubano Carlos Colàs y el norteamericano Jim Pennington que lo hicieron con el equipo “Venezuela” en el año de 1950.<\/p>\n
Esa noche del 6 de noviembre de 1984, ante una escasa concurrencia de aproximadamente tres mil personas, William Erèu y Arturo Sànchez ligan 5 indiscutibles casa uno, con la particularidad de que el calibre de sus conexiones es idéntico : 1 triple y 4 sencillos por cabeza ; Arturo consume 6 turnos, mientras que el “Orgullo de Siquisique”,en una noche perfecta, entrò 5 veces en el cajón de bateadores.<\/p>\n
De esta manera, por primera vez en el béisbol profesional Venezolano, dos jugadores nativos lograban la hazaña de batear 5 hits individualmente, jugando para el mismo equipo.<\/p>\n
Sànchez también participo con los Leones del Caracas, pero ya sus grandes años habían concluido. Termino su carrera con un 262 de ave. que no dice realmente la calidad de bateador que fue. Nunca bateo de jonron en sus 14 temporadas pero la realidad fue que no necesito de la fuerza para hacerle el gran daño a todos los rivales a los que se enfrento.<\/p>\n
Después de terminar su carrera trabajo como scout y fue encargado de una academia de Los Orioles De Baltimore. Gran persona, buen amigo. Sirva esta pequeña crónica para recordar a un gran pelotero.<\/p>\n
