{"id":26694,"date":"2013-12-11T08:28:38","date_gmt":"2013-12-11T16:28:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seamheads.com\/?p=26694"},"modified":"2013-12-11T10:37:31","modified_gmt":"2013-12-11T18:37:31","slug":"negro-leagues-db-update-1927-28-cuban-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seamheads.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/11\/negro-leagues-db-update-1927-28-cuban-league\/","title":{"rendered":"Negro Leagues DB Update: 1927-28 Cuban League"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine a last-place team with no fewer than three future Hall of Famers on its roster, all in their prime.&#160; That&#8217;s the story of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seamheads.com\/NegroLgs\/team.php?yearID=1927.5&amp;teamID=CUB&amp;LGOrd=1\">Cuba Baseball Club<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seamheads.com\/NegroLgs\/year.php?yearID=1927.5\">1927\/28 Cuban Winter League<\/a>, which we&#8217;ve added to the DB.&#160; Despite the efforts of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seamheads.com\/NegroLgs\/player.php?ID=134\"><strong>Oscar Charleston<\/strong><\/a> (.350\/.481\/.567, a league-leading 32 walks in 34 games), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seamheads.com\/NegroLgs\/player.php?ID=921\"><strong>Willie Foster<\/strong><\/a> (6-8, 3.17), and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seamheads.com\/NegroLgs\/player.php?ID=423\"><strong>Judy Johnson<\/strong><\/a> (.333\/.375\/.439), the Cuba team finished deep in the cellar with a 12-21-1 record.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seamheads.com\/NegroLgs\/team.php?yearID=1927.5&amp;teamID=ALM&amp;LGOrd=1\">Almendares<\/a> (17-15-1) put up more of a fight.
