In \u201cHardball Retrospective: Evaluating Scouting and Development Outcomes for the Modern-Era Franchises\u201d, I placed every ballplayer in the modern era (from 1901-present) on their original team. Therefore, Jack Chesbro is listed on the Pirates roster for the duration of his career while the Beaneaters claim Kid Nichols and the Superbas declare Fielder Jones. I calculated revised standings for every season based entirely on the performance of each team\u2019s \u201coriginal\u201d players. I discuss every team\u2019s \u201coriginal\u201d players and seasons at length along with organizational performance with respect to the Amateur Draft (or First-Year Player Draft), amateur free agent signings and other methods of player acquisition.\u00a0 Season standings, WAR and Win Shares totals for the \u201coriginal\u201d teams are compared against the \u201cactual\u201d team results to assess each franchise\u2019s scouting, development and general management skills.<\/p>\n

Jake \u201cEagle Eye\u201d Beckley placed runner-up in batting average (.341) and OBP (.392) while finishing third in slugging (.429).
