Darryl Hamilton was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 11th round of the 1986 amateur draft and spent seven seasons in Milwaukee before signing as a free agent with the Texas Rangers in 1996.\u00c2\u00a0 After only one season in Texas, Hamilton played for the San Francisco Giants, Colorado Rockies, and New York Mets, with whom he retired after the 2001 season at the age of 36.<\/p>\n
Hamilton, a career .291 hitter, enjoyed some fine seasons, swiping a career high 41 bags in 1992; hitting .310 with a career high nine home runs in ’93; hitting .315 and tying his career best nine homers in ’99; and hitting .335 and .339 as a part-timer with the Rockies in ’98 and Mets in ’99.\u00c2\u00a0 Hamilton was also a fine outfielder who committed only 14 errors in his 13-year career for a fielding percentage of .995.<\/p>\n
