Relief pitcher Craig Breslow has been referred to as “the smartest man in baseball” because of his degrees in molecular biophysics and biochemistry earned at Yale University, and his performance on the field has been equally impressive, boasting a 2.78 ERA in 172 career games.\u00c2\u00a0 Breslow was drafted out of Yale by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 26th round of the 2002 amateur draft and spent three seasons in the Brewers organization before making his major league debut with the San Diego Padres in 2005.<\/p>\n
He pitched for the Red Sox in 2006, the Indians and Twins in 2008, and the Twins and A’s in 2009, the latter of whom he’s still with this season.<\/p>\n
