MVP: Robinson Cano<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s hard to deny Cano’s talent the most valuable player award for the first half. Despite his numbers — his batting average is fifth in all of baseball — Cano has been the center piece of a Yankee team that holds the best record in baseball. With Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter — who were all essential pieces to last years championship — contributing minimally, Robinson Cano has almost single-handedly catapulted this team to an even better position than last season.<\/p>\n

Honorable mention: Miguel Cabrera, Joey Votto, Justin Morneau<\/em><\/p>\n

Cy Young: Ubaldo Jimenez<\/strong><\/p>\n

After throwing 2010’s first no-hitter, Ubaldo Jimenez has mowed down the entire National League, posting a 2.20 ERA and a league leading 15 wins. He has kept the Rockies in contention, just two games back of the San Diego Padres.<\/p>\n

Honorable mention: Josh Johnson, Roy Halladay, David Price<\/em><\/p>\n

Rookie of the year: Brennan Boesch<\/strong><\/p>\n

With a .342 batting average, Boesch has very quietly taken over the fourth best batting average in all of baseball. His 12 home runs are the most for a rookie this season, and he is on pace to be just the 10th rookie in major league baseball history to hit 20 home runs. With his team just a half game back of the White Sox, Boesch can be a big difference maker for the 2010 Tigers.<\/p>\n
