for Pitching Continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While it is still a bit early to make too many judgments about the second half of the <strong>Atlantic League <\/strong>season, one can be certain the six teams still in search of postseason berths will constantly monitor their pitching.\u00c2\u00a0 Do we have enough?\u00c2\u00a0 Starters?\u00c2\u00a0 Relievers?\u00c2\u00a0 Who might be available?<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seamheads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/atlantic.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-5846\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seamheads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/atlantic.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"134\" height=\"144\" \/><\/a>At least three former major leaguers are being given a look, but the verdict is out on each of them.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <strong>Lancaster <\/strong>has added <strong>Rick Bauer<\/strong>, but he had struggled at <strong>Long Island <\/strong>(3-9, 5.49).\u00c2\u00a0 Manager <strong>Tom Herr<\/strong> liked what he had seen in Bauer\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s two starts against the <strong>Barnstormers <\/strong>(nine hits, five runs in 13 innings). <strong>Bridgeport <\/strong>will feel somewhat better about its starting corps to go along with its muscular offense if <strong>Dan Serafini <\/strong>can contribute as a replacement for <strong>Patrick Ryan, <\/strong>who has moved on to the <strong>Boston Red Sox <\/strong>organization.\u00c2\u00a0 The verdict is not yet in despite a win Thursday night because he has allowed eight earned runs in 13 innings his last two outings. \u00c2\u00a0<strong>Long Island <\/strong>got a little encouragement when <strong>Kip Wells <\/strong>gave the <strong>Ducks <\/strong>three decent innings (three hits, three walks, one earned run) in his first start.\u00c2\u00a0 But this shows finding replacement arms is not easy this time of year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Pulsipher Adds Coaching to His Pitching Talent<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 A longtime <strong>Atlantic League<\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u201dand major league\u00e2\u20ac\u201dpitcher has been in the news this week because he was declared a free agent in the independent <strong>Golden League<\/strong> through a loophole when the <strong>Yuma (AZ) Scorpions <\/strong>were late with paychecks.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <strong>Bill Pulsipher,<\/strong> at one time a highly coveted up-and-comer with the <strong>New York Mets<\/strong> and a lefty who has had four different stints at <strong>Long Island<\/strong>, was both the pitching coach and a starter for Yuma.\u00c2\u00a0 The southpaw, who turns 37 in October, was the topic for a lengthy feature by <em>The Yuma Sun<\/em> newspaper\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s <strong>Edward Carifio<\/strong>, not only because of the contract snafu but also because of Pulsipher\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ongoing battle with a general anxiety disorder which played a big role in the hotshot prospect\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s loss of control.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I want to be around the game, I want to help people out,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Pulsipher told <em>The Sun. <\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I think I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve learned a lot through my trials and tribulations\u00e2\u20ac\u201dmy successes and failures\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0 The 6-foot-3 hurler leaves no doubt of the fact he still needs medicine, said to be <strong>Paxil.<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I take medicine to this day when I pitch,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Pulsipher told Carifico.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I have to every day.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m still a pitcher, and I know if I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t take my medication, my anxiety level goes up, and the next thing you know I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll start walking guys.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Pulsipher hopes to continue pitching this season, and to be coaching in the long run, so he can continue
