It is getting close to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153wild card\u00e2\u20ac\u009d time.\u00c2\u00a0 Some newspapers have been listing the major league wild card data in their standings for weeks now, but this subject also carries importance in the Atlantic League<\/strong> since it seems very real that Southern \"\"<\/a>Maryland <\/strong>and York <\/strong>could capture both first and second half divisional titles.<\/p>\n

The Blue Crabs<\/strong> had a two and one half-game lead in the Liberty Division<\/strong> after a daytime win Tuesday, and the Revolution <\/strong>were a mere half-game behind pacesetting Lancaster <\/strong>in the Freedom <\/strong>bracket.\u00c2\u00a0 It is key to remember that whenever a team wins both halves the wild card or possibly two such playoff teams will be those with the best full-season records, which means both teams could come from the same division.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bridgeport Tops in Player Sales With 53<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 With nearly 40 player contracts sold already this season out of the Atlantic League <\/strong>(including those to foreign leagues), we decided it would be interesting to see which teams have had the most success in this area since the league started.<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Given a major assist from the 2010 Somerset <\/strong>media guide, the all-time leader is Bridgeport<\/strong> with 53 sales, followed by Newark <\/strong>at 45, the Patriots <\/strong>and Long Island <\/strong>at 42 apiece and Camden <\/strong>37.\u00c2\u00a0 For more recent league entries, Lancaster <\/strong>has sold 22, York <\/strong>19 and Southern Maryland <\/strong>13.\u00c2\u00a0 Nashua, NH <\/strong>was tops among former teams with 34 player sales.<\/p>\n

Stavisky Trades Bat for St. Bonaventure Position<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Atlantic League <\/strong>grad Brian Stavisky<\/strong> has exchanged his baseball glove for a suit and tie by being named earlier this week as Director of Compliance at St. Bonaventure University.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/strong>Stavisky retired earlier this summer, ending a nine-year professional career in which he hit .301 and topped out at Triple-A.\u00c2\u00a0 A Port Allegany, PA <\/strong>native, Stavisky played 29 games for Lancaster <\/strong>in 2008.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
